"All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players."
Banished from court and cast into the Forest of Arden, Rosalind disguises herself as a boy and discovers that love, freedom, and self-discovery thrive far from the rules of society. As shepherds, fools, lords, and lovers wander through the woods, mistaken identities and unexpected romances blossom under the trees. As You Like It is Shakespeare’s joyful celebration of love in all its forms—romantic, platonic, and delightfully chaotic. With music, mischief, and one of the most iconic heroines in the canon, this pastoral romp reminds us that sometimes the best way to find yourself… is to get a little lost.
This production is presented at Martha Wren Briggs Amphitheatre at Lake Matoaka. The Amphitheatre is located on the beautiful grounds of The College of William and Mary. The amphitheater was built by the Jamestown Corporation in 1947 to host The Common Glory, a historical outdoor drama by Paul Green recounting the story of Williamsburg during the American Revolution which also lent its name for the amphitheater's original name.
