As You Like It

By William Shakespeare

Directed by Claire Wittman

June 25 - July 18, 2026

Sabot School’s Gillette Garden, 3400 Stony Point Rd, Richmond, VA 23235

"All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players."

Banished from court and cast into the Forest of Arden, Rosalind disguises herself as a boy and discovers that love, freedom, and self-discovery thrive far from the rules of society. As shepherds, fools, lords, and lovers wander through the woods, mistaken identities and unexpected romances blossom under the trees. As You Like It is Shakespeare’s joyful celebration of love in all its forms—romantic, platonic, and delightfully chaotic. With music, mischief, and one of the most iconic heroines in the canon, this pastoral romp reminds us that sometimes the best way to find yourself… is to get a little lost.

This production is presented at Sabot School’s Gillette Garden. The Main House is part of the original Larus estate, originally a sprawling estate of a tobacco baron, known affectionately as “Squire”. The Main House, built in 1925 after a fire destroyed the original structure, was designed in a “fanciful mixture of English Tudor, Elizabethan, and Jacobean styles”. The renowned Charles Gillette designed Stony Point’s gardens.

Grounds open at 6:30p, so come early and enjoy a picnic in the garden before the performance. You need to provide your own seating. Blankets, lawn chairs, and small coolers containing picnic items are permitted. Beach umbrellas, tents, tables, and other shelters are prohibited in the general lawn seating area. Outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Concessions, including beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and gourmet popcorn, will be available for purchase on site.
