Jase Smith Sullivan began his theatre career more than two decades ago with the Virginia Shakespeare Festival at William & Mary, where he discovered a lifelong passion for Shakespeare and classical theatre. He later served as producing artistic director Richmond's Firehouse Theatre and has since held executive leadership positions at theatres and performing arts centers across the country.
Sullivan earned a BA in Theatre from the College of William & Mary in 2005 and studied Shakespeare at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. He received his MFA in Theatre from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2008, where he also served as an adjunct faculty member. He is a recipient of Style Weekly's Top 40 Under 40 award and is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
For Richmond Shakespeare, Sullivan directed Into the Woods (RTCC nominations for Best Musical and Best Direction of a Musical). Favorite regional directing credits include HAIR, The Wild Party, POP! Who Shot Andy Warhol?, The Rocky Horror Show, RENT, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Reefer Madness, Zanna, Don't!, and Christmas with the Crawfords.
