JASE SMITH SULLIVAN

Hailing from Virginia, Sullivan began his non-profit arts administration career at Firehouse Theatre where he served as producing artistic director. His tenure at Firehouse was recognized with 44 nominations and 15 wins in various categories from the Richmond Critics Circle Awards. He spent time in the San Francisco Bay Area serving in leadership positions at non-profit theatres including Berkeley Playhouse and Novato Theater Company. Most recently he served as executive artistic director of La Crosse Community Theatre and Weber Center for the Performing Arts, where he successfully shepherded the company through the pandemic by strengthening finances and organizational structure, diversifying programming, and increasing audience engagement.

Sullivan earned a BA in Theatre from The College of William and Mary in 2005 and studied Shakespeare at Cambridge University in the U.K. He earned his MFA in Theatre from VCU in 2008, where he also served as an adjunct faculty member. He is a recipient of Style Weekly’s Top 40 Under 40 award. Favorite Richmond directing credits include Into the Woods, HAIR, The Wild Party, POP! Who Shot Andy Warhol?, The Rocky Horror Show, RENT, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Reefer Madness, Zanna Don’t and Christmas with the Crawfords. Sullivan is a member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
